CRCAM stands for Regional Mutual Agricultural Credit Fund. When this mention appears on a bank statement, it refers to a debit made by one of the regional funds of the Crédit Agricole network, usually related to an insurance contract, a loan, or a banking service subscribed to with this bank.
CRCAM Label on a Statement: What the Code Doesn’t Say
The label that appears on an account statement often takes the form of “PCRCAM” or “PRLV CRCAM,” followed by a numerical reference. This line does not specify the type of contract involved, nor the exact name of the insurance company or service that caused the debit. The acronym only refers to the issuing regional fund.
Each regional fund of Crédit Agricole operates as a distinct entity. A customer based in Normandy does not fall under the same fund as a customer in Midi-Pyrénées. Therefore, the CRCAM code may correspond to different products depending on the region and the contracts in force.
To precisely identify the purpose of the debit, the most reliable approach is to log into the online client space or the Crédit Agricole mobile app. The details of the SEPA direct debit mandate are generally accessible there, along with the reference of the associated contract. If not, a call to the advisor of the relevant regional fund can clarify any doubts. Understanding the meaning of the CRCAM debit starts with this verification of the SEPA mandate linked to the debit.

CRCAM Debit: IARD Insurance, Loan, or Management Fees
Three main categories of contracts generate a debit labeled CRCAM.
IARD Insurance Premiums
The most common case is an IARD insurance premium (Fire, Accidents, and Various Risks). This term encompasses home insurance, car insurance, personal accident coverage, or legal protection. Crédit Agricole distributes these contracts through its subsidiary Pacifica, but the bank label does not display “Pacifica”: it displays CRCAM.
The frequency of the debit depends on the contract. A monthly premium generates a debit each month, while an annual premium results in a single debit per year, often on the anniversary date of the contract.
Loan Payments
The monthly payments of a mortgage or consumer loan taken out with Crédit Agricole may also appear under this label. The debited amount corresponds to the repaid capital, interest, and borrower insurance, grouped into a single line.
Banking Service Fees
Account maintenance fees, credit card fees, or ancillary services (SMS alerts, banking packages) may also be debited under the CRCAM code. These debits are generally quarterly or annual.
- IARD Insurance (home, auto, personal accident): monthly or annual debit depending on the contract
- Mortgage or consumer loan: payment including capital, interest, and borrower insurance
- Banking services: card fees, account maintenance, packages, debited according to the regional pricing grid
Disputing or Stopping a CRCAM Debit
An unrecognized or disputed CRCAM debit can be handled in two distinct ways, and confusion between the two is common.
Revocation of the SEPA Mandate
The SEPA mandate is the authorization given to the regional fund to debit the account. This mandate can be revoked at any time by the account holder, directly from the online client space or via the secure messaging of the app. Revocation blocks all future debits related to this specific mandate.
Opposition on a Specific Debit
The opposition concerns a specific debit that has already occurred or is upcoming. It does not cancel the overall mandate: only the targeted debit is blocked or refunded. Some regional funds charge fees for this operation, and the amount varies from one fund to another.
The distinction is crucial: blocking a debit does not terminate the underlying contract. If the debit corresponds to home insurance and the mandate is revoked without a parallel termination of the contract, the premium remains due. The regional fund can then demand payment through another channel, or even apply late penalties.
- Revoking the SEPA mandate cuts off all future debits from this creditor, but does not end the contract
- Opposing a specific debit only blocks one debit, the mandate remains active
- Termination of the contract (insurance, loan, service) must be done separately, by mail or from the client space
- Opposition fees vary depending on the regional fund and the channel used (agency, phone, app)
Termination of a CRCAM Contract: Procedure and Timeline
To definitively end the debit without residual debt, termination of the contract itself is necessary. The procedure depends on the type of product.
For IARD insurance, the law allows termination at any time after the first year of subscription, without fees or penalties. The request can be sent by registered mail to the regional fund, or made from the digital client space. The contract ends within one month after receipt of the request.
For a loan, the situation is different. An ongoing mortgage cannot simply be “terminated”: early repayment must be made, often with penalties specified in the contract. A consumer loan, however, can usually be repaid early without penalty in most cases.
For banking service fees, a change of plan or account closure is sufficient to stop the debits. Banking mobility facilitates this transition to another institution.
The CRCAM debit is not an anomaly. It is a common debit from the Crédit Agricole network, linked to a specific contract. The first useful check remains to consult the details of the SEPA mandate in the client space, before any dispute or termination process.
